Job Title : NMC Fixed Exchange (Switching) (3)

Job Description:


* Provide 24*7*365 surveillance troubleshooting, controlling and resolving of all network related faults i.e Siemens Digital Switching Equipments (EWSD), Transmission equipments (Siemens SURPASS hiT7070 and STM Channels),
* Implement/Test integration of new EWSD network elements
* Implement integration of new E1 connections and conduct acceptance tests
* Traffic Analysis and Measurement
* Implement change requests/planned work, using switch procedures
* Monitor Exchange performance statistics, and generate weekly reports
* Monitoring and acknowledging of all alarms from all network elements such Core, Transmission and Power Networks
* Real Time Performance monitoring of all network elements effectively and provide daily reports for the next action to be carried out to improve network quality
* Assume responsibility for correctly forwarding trouble tickets issued against all MTN Staffs, other Fixed and GSM providers, International providers and MTN contractors. Also ensure that those tickets are resolved within specified period
* Finding out and identify the malfunctioning of network element for overall efficiency and trouble spots using various NMC tools that is Siemen NMS
* Dispatch all unresolved faults to the Fixed Exchange Co-ordinator if necessary
* Act as interface and provide access ref number to MTN Contractors, Field Engineers, Operational Maintenance Center Engineers and other GSM/PTOs companies for planned work/change request and access to all MTN Location
* Hands-on resolution of all unresolved subscribers problems/faults on switching and Fixed Lines problem from Call center
* Perform NMC duties as instructed by NMC Fixed Exchange Co-ordinator, e.g., correlation of outages, adjustment of availability parameters, follow-up and clearing of specific network faults
* Escalate all faulty devices or hardware detected after troubleshooting/diagnosing (which cannot be resolved remotely) to the field support engineers and Contractor for replacement in order to improve network performance
* Provide ideas and feedback on software tools, procedures and improvements to NMC functionality of Fixed Exchange operations
* Ensure properly monitoring and implementation of all network changes according to the organisation process and procedures
* Provide regular update on MTNN performance and other network issues to the management, call center, sales and distribution, marketing and other relevant department in MTNN
* Any extra duties as given from time to time by the NMC Fixed Exchange Co-ordinator

Job Conditions: Normal MTNN working conditions Regular shift work On stand by 24/7 through out the year

Reporting To: NMC Fixed Exchange Coordinator

Required Skills:


* At least 2 years hands-on experience in light current, telecommunications or a related field

Experience in GSM switching environment preferably working on Siemens switches. is desirable

Employment Status : Permanent

Qualification: B. Sc Electrical Electronics /Computer Science/Engineering or a related field, UNIX certification beneficial
