APM Terminals commenced operations in Nigeria in March, 2006. Apapa is Nigeria's largest port and contains a number of wharfs. To date, the staff comprises over 700 highly skilled and motivated foreign and local staff. The Position: CITY OFFICE IT SPECIALIST
Under general supervision of the City Office Manager, this position maintains the security and integrity of all IT systems, utilizing user access controls, virus protection mechanisms, system-usage monitoring in the City Office and also troubleshooting.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Establish and maintain network user accounts, user environment, directories and security.
• Create and maintain IT Standard Operation Procedures for the City Office.
• Develop and run daily production reports.
• Coordinate all on-line learning for the City Office staff.
• Train and monitor the IT skills of City Office staff, especially in Sparcs, Express and Navision.
• Respond to the needs and questions of users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programmes.
• Install and test software upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and communicate downtime (both IT and power) to users.
• Ensure all software versions are up-to-date where applicable.
• Monitor power and operate the generator, dedicated to the City Office
CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
• B.Sc. Degree in IT or science related discipline;
• Experience in implementing local area networks’ systems integration and administration.
• Ability to train others in IT skills, run classes and monitor development.
• Substantial knowledge about computer hardware configurations for UNIX, Win 2003, Cisco and Oracle environments and Microsoft products.
• Ability to work under pressure with detailed plans and forecasts, anticipate potential resource constraints and diagnose, evaluate and resolve such problems as they happen;
• Capable of establishing priorities in accordance with overall objectives and IT goals
• Good decision-making and problem solving skills;
• Effective communication skills;
